PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Just when drivers were getting comfortable with driving over the Providence Viaduct, the next phase of traffic pattern changes are coming.
This weekend drivers will encounter a divided highway.
The new traffic pattern will have one through lane for 95 south to the left of the split on the Old Viaduct and two through lanes to the right of the new bridge.
All three through lanes will remain for 95 south traffic and exit 21 will still be accessible in the far right lane.
“The third phase of traffic pattern changes is set for mid-November. There will no longer be splits with three lanes open on the new bridge and one exit only lane for Atwells Ave,” said Peter Alviti; Director of RIDOT.
