Father found guilty for murder of newborn daughter

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A Providence father charged Monday afternoon, with the 2012 murder of his baby was found guilty on one count of second degree murder and two counts of child abuse.

29-year-old Christopher Jimenez pleaded not guilty to beating his 5-week-old daughter Christina to death, saying he didn’t do it on purpose.

Prosecutors say the infant had skull, and rib fractures, a liver laceration, and brain swelling.

Doctors say it’s highly unlikely injuries like those listed above were an accident.

Jimenez will be sentenced in December.
