FALL RIVER, M.A. – Durfee High School students placed in lockdown for hours this morning, after a "snap chat" photo showed a 15-year-old student holding a gun.

Serena Rogers has three students at the school and found out about the picture from her daughter.

"My daughter she must have posted 7 messages on my Facebook page, and she like there’s kids walking around with guns," said Serena Rogers.

Last week there was another threat of someone coming to school with a gun, so when this photo made its way around school students tell us they weren’t taking any chances.

“I think students have been trained in Alice procedures in Fall River where the first thing is to leave the scene, so I think some children took it upon themselves to leave," said Superintendent Mathew Malone.

Superintendent Malone says when the photo was brought to the administration’s attention, the building was immediately put on lockdown and Police came in to investigate.

"Fall River police arrested a 15-year-old male student in possession of a BB pistol which is a firearm violation in the Commonwealth he was in school earlier today that’s where the photo was taken," said Superintendent Malone.

Malone says even though it turned out to be just a BB gun, the student could face a felony charge.

He will also face punishment from the school.

"We will be enforcing our code of discipline to the fullest extent. There is no place in our schools for weapons," said Superintendent Malone.

Malone adds beginning Tuesday morning, students and staff will be required to wear IDs at all times, and will all enter through 1 door the main entrance where they will be met with metal detectors and wands.
