Swansea man dies in motorcycle crash

SWANSEA, MASS. — A man on a motorcycle died after crashing into a car Sunday afternoon in Swansea.

According to the District Attorney’s office, 44-year-old Jamie Tavares of Swansea was riding his motorcycle on Maple Avenue when he collided with a Volkswagen Jetta that was being operated by a 52-year-old woman.

Tavares was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The 52-year-old woman was not hurt in the crash.

Police do not know yet why Tavares swerved into the on-coming vehicle.
