Andre Scott appeared in Rhode Island District Court Tuesday after failing to appear in court on Friday to face 3 charges of assault and battery upon a disabled person.
"They allege you are a fugitive from justice, wanted by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Do you want to waive extradition," asked the Judge.
"He does judge," responded Scott’s attorney.
Police say the incident happened here at a group home operated by the Judge Rotenberg Center- where Scott was an employee. Staff say Scott was fired immediately after they learned something was wrong. They say they called police on august 1st when three male students ages 17 and 20 at another of the center’s facilities in Canton with bruising near their eyes.
No one from the center was able to go on camera with us, but they did release a statement saying in part, the morning the boys showed up with bruising on their eyes they immediately reviewed footage. They say it shows Scott hitting and shoving them.
Scott’s being held tonight and he’s set to return to return to Massachusetts tomorrow to be arraigned on the assault charges.
