Mickey, Minnie and your other favorite Disney characters are visiting Providence for Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream.
This year’s show has an empowering message for kids, as Disney shifts away from the “damsel in distress” to focus on princesses who dream big and go for what they want.
The show features the stories of Snow White, Cinderella, Princess Tiana and Rapunzel.
"You can relate to her in that you’re scared and you don’t know what’s out there,” said Taylor Steele, who portrays Rapunzel from Tangled on the ice. “She dared to leave her tower and she tried new things and she explored a world that she had absolutely no idea about. It just shows that anything is possible.”
Of course, there is lots of Disney magic and something a little different this year. Rapunzel and Flynn fly 30 feet above the ice as Rapunzel descends from her tower by her hair.
The performers say there is nothing like the look on kids’ faces when they come out in costume, but the show is fun for the whole family.
“You’d be surprised how many of the dad’s say they’re having the time of their lives here," said Joseph Jacobsen, who plays Flynn from Tangled. "Yea, the little boys get all excited, the evil villains come out and they’re all ready to fight the villains and they see their princesses and they’re all like big and tough and then you wave and they get really shy. It’s amazing," chimed in Steele.
Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream is at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center through Sunday, Oct. 9th. Click here for a full list of performances and to buy tickets.
