A warm welcome for Central Falls native, Emmy Award winning actress Viola Davis as she returned back to her roots.
“Everything I learned in life, how to be tough, how to be loving, how to be kind, how to be integrity I learned here. This is the foundation of Viola Davis,” Says Davis.
Davis came home in part to attend a groundbreaking at Blackstone Valley Community Health Care’s new, state-of-the-art, Neighborhood Health Station.
Growing up in the smallest city in the smallest state, Davis always had big dreams. As an actress she has played dozens of different roles, most recently playing Annalise Keating in "How To Get Away with Murder."
“You have done so many things during your acting career, what is your proudest moment?” I asked.
“Proudest moment being a mother, my daughter she is my life, shes my heart. Proudest moment getting married to my husband. Proudest moment, winning the Emmy being able to give that speech and having he courage to give that speech. And to give it with the utmost confidence,”she responded.
Davis is the first black woman of any nationality to win the Prime time Emmy award for outstanding lead actress in a drama series.
“If I were to take you back, this was the first award show where I felt like I had to be completely cognizant, where I had to understand that I had to be joyful of course, of course I won an award. But I had to have an understanding that the award was bigger than me.”
There was just one more question i had to ask before i let her go.
"What can you tell us about the rest of the season of how to get away with murder?"
"I will tell you this because I read episode 9. I never thought it could get crazier than the first season. no body is safe, nothing is safe you have to challenge everything you know."
