Brown University student struck in hit and run

CRANSTON, R.I. – Officers from the Cranston Police Department are searching for a driver involved in a hit and run accident.
Police say around 5:50p.m. Thursday evening, a Brown University student, identified as 20-year-old Charles Austen Deery, of New Canaan, Connecticut, was struck from behind on Marlow Street while filming a documentary for school.
Deery was standing on the edge of the roadway videotaping, when he was struck by a vehicle that had been traveling south on Marlow Street.
According to police the suspected vehicle described by a witness as a small silver car, was then seen traveling down Marlow Street.
Deery sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries, and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
