Rabid raccoon attacks cat in Mount Pleasant neighborhood

Officials are warning residents of the Mount Pleasant area of Providence to report any contact with a raccoon after a cat was attacked by the rabid animal.
The rabid raccoon was captured on Biltmore Avenue after a domestic cat was found nearby. It had been attacked by the raccoon and had to be euthanized because of its injuries.
The public is asked to report any personal contact with raccoons in this area as well as any potential contact a pet may have had with a raccoon.
