PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The iconic Pawtucket eatery Silver Top Diner was finally sold at an auction Wednesday morning.

ABC6 News learned it was bought by the Cerrone family for $30,500.

No word yet on what the buyers plan to do with it, but they did say they want to honor its historic significance.

The diner opened back in the 1930s but has been facing legal battles over the last 14 years.

In 2002 it was evicted from its original spot on the corner of Harris and Kinsley Avenues in Providence and moved to Pawtucket.

The owners now have 3 months to move it from its current spot.
