New Bedford Police arrest man for armed robbery, 1 suspect still at large

NEW BEDFORD, M.A. – New Bedford Police Detectives have arrested one male in connection with the armed robbery that occurred Monday morning, but one suspect remains on the loose.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. Monday morning, the Dairy Mart located at 4443 Acushnet Avenue was robbed.

Police arrested 23-year-old Manuel Vasquez, of 2110 Phillips Road apt #36, and located the weapon used in the robbery, which turned out to be a bb gun.

Detectives are actively investigating the case and seeking the second male involved in the robbery. 

The suspect at large is described as a light skinned male, about 5’6" tall, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with possibly an emblem of some sort on the shoulder, wearing a mask and brandishing a handgun. He was able to flee with an undetermined amount of cash as well as cigarettes.  

Authorities say they have located the suspect’s vehicle and will process it for evidence.  

Vasquez is charged with Armed Robbery, and there were no injuries during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
