Providence Police officer injured in hit and run

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE): A Providence Police officer was injured and transported to the hospital after a hit and run on Sunday morning, according to police. 

Ptlm. David Sepe was assisting a driver whose car had broken down on Raymond St. near Chalkstone Avenue at 3:30 a.m. 

While standing outside his police car assisting this motorist, another motorist struck Sepe and pinned him against his police car before he fell to the ground striking his head.

The car that struck him, a dark-colored sedan with an out of state registration, fled the scene at a high speed. 

Officer Sepe was transported by Providence Rescue to RI Hospital. 

He was treated and released early this afternoon. Police are still investigating and no one has been apprehended.
