UPDATE: Police identify suspect from officer-involved shooting at Foxwoods

MASHANTUCKET, C.T.- The suspect killed in the officer-involved shooting at Fox Tower parking garage at Foxwoods Resort Casino Tuesday has been identified as 23-year-old Michael Goodale.

Court records indicate that Goodale plead guilty to third degree burglary charges in 2013. He was sentenced to 5 years in jail but only served one. He was released on three years probation. Connecticut State Police say a warrant had been issued because of a violation of probation.

When tribal police tried to arrest Goodale on Tuesday, they say he pulled out a gun.

"The Mashantucket tribal police ordered the subject to drop his weapon; however, he did not comply,” said State Police Trooper Sgt. William Bohonowicz.

At least one officer responded by firing a shot. It’s not clear at this point if the suspect was hit by the bullet.

"The subject then fell off the fourth level of the Fox Tower Parking garage onto a paved driveway below,” said Bohonowicz.

The whole scene unfolding with thousands nearby. Michelle Thibault was playing poker when she noticed something wasn’t right. She called the shooting un-nerving.

"When I learned that it was in the parking garage and I was kind of right next to the parking garage. I said ‘ok we need to make sure we have our options covered.’ I was happy I was wearing sneakers and not stilettos,” said Thibault.

Thibault’s husband, Tom, got the call that something wasn’t right. He says differing stories circulating throughout social media made the situation all the more stressful.

"It was pretty tense we didn’t know what was going on," said Tom Thibault.

Police withholding identifying the suspect until next of kin are notified they emphasize that there is not danger to the public.
