Police: Man wanted for taking pictures up a female’s skirt

Providence police are searching for a man they say took a picture up a woman’s skirt at the Providence Place Mall on Tuesday.
The woman told police she riding up an escalator when she felt a cell phone on her leg. The victim quickly confronted the man who was able to run away.
The suspect is described to be a white male in his late 30’s-40’s with a long brown pony tail, glasses, green polo shirt, dark colored book bag, black shorts, dark colored shoes, and white socks.
People hearing the news telling ABC 6 News that they are disgusted by the entire situation.
"Honestly it’s making me not want to wear a dress or a skirt I don’t want anybody trying to take pictures or video of my private parts,” said Alexis Montero.
"I think it’s very scary the amount of people that are out there and how our daughters need to protect themselves with all the technology and the phones and the cameras that are there. It happens anywhere,” said Diane Sewell.
There is no specific law against upskirting in Rhode Island, but the act does fall under the guise of video voyeurism which carries a penalty of up to 3 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact police at (401) 272-3121.
