South Kingstown Police charged a man Wednesday with felony counts for the delivery of narcotics.
Officials say that due to the current opioid epidemic, they initiated a narcotics investigation concerning the sale and distribution of heroin and fentanyl.
Detectives say they were able to purchase fentanyl from 31-year-old Howard Courtemanche of South Kingstown.
Courtemanche was arrested and remanded to the ACI on an unrelated criminal offense and arraigned in 4th District Court. He was sent to the ACI on two felony counts of delivery of a scheduled II narcotic.
Police say Courtemance is currently on a suspended sentence for previous convictions from past arrests for the delivery of cocaine and possession of heroin.
