He has already done time for trying to kill the mother of his child and now he is being held without bail for killing his daughter.

Walter DaSilva faced a judge Wednesday.

Prosecutors say that when DaSilva was arrested, he confessed to gunning down his daughter in New Bedford.

45-year-old Walter DaSilva smiled as he entered New Bedford District Court on Wednesday.

DaSilva was charged with first degree murder of his 19-year-old daughter Sabrina.

Police say on July 3rd DaSilva was caught on surveillance video outside his daughter’s apartment in New Bedford firing off a gun.

Prosecutors say DaSilva was upset his daughter was dating an older man and was angry she chose to be with her boyfriend on father’s day instead of him.

DaSilva, who was charged back in 2002 with attempted murder for trying to kill Sabrina’s mother, served a ten year sentence and was deported back to Brazil. But somehow he made it back to the United States and was living in Connecticut.

Police say he confessed to the murder when he was picked up on a probation warrant last month, saying, “I did it. I killed my daughter.”

DaSilva entered a not guilty plea.

His lawyer says the so called confession would not hold up in court.

“They said that he made an admission. I want to know under what circumstances he made those admissions,” said Defense Attorney John Connors.

“It’s disturbing he got back here and committed this crime, and that’s what we are focusing on,” said Thomas Quinn; Bristol County District Attorney.

Sabrina’s family filled the courtroom wearing shirts with her picture on them. Her aunt says justice needs to be served.

“He was laughing he is a monster. She didn’t deserve that, she was a wonderful girl. A wonderful person.”
