Middletown- Ramon arroyo may have been only 7 year old, but in that short time, he impacted many lives. A former teacher of his, was too shaken up to go on camera but described him as someone who was generous, had a kind heart and always had a smile on his face. Ramon was killed early Monday morning, when his family’s home on the corner of Wyatt and E. Main rd in Middletown went up in flames.

"We saw this terrible view, flames it was like a horror movie. They were screaming," says neighbor Claudia Gonzaelez.

Gonzaelez says she recently moved in to the neighborhood, and had often seen Ramon outside playing.

"Just knowing that, that boy is gone, it’s really really really sad,"she says.

Ramon’s two older sisters were sleeping on the first floor when the flames broke out. A police officer spotted the fire and saved the girls, but rescuers couldn’t make it to Ramon in time. A memorial in his memory is now growing outside the Middletown home, with people dropping off items to show their support.

"I feel sick to my stomach actually right now. Just to really think about it makes me really sad, I don’t know what I would do and I would want support from everyone and anyone. I would probably feel really lost. It’s horrible," says Samantha Silvia, who dropped off a bouquet of flowers.

This past summer, Ramon participated in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center Summer Camp. It’s organizers wrote on Facebook today,

"His infectious dimpled grin and kind and cheerful nature made him beloved by staff and campers alike."
