LINCOLN, RI – More than a dozen came to Fitness Rising Gym in Lincoln, Friday night, for a special workout in honor of former member, Michelle Cagnon.

"I think there’s no doubt that we’re missing something in our Fitness Rising family,” said Kelly Healey of Cranston.

It was a physically and emotionally challenging workout for the group. Cagnon, 30, of Cumberland was killed Wednesday, when a Peter Pan bus struck her while she was walking in a cross walk in Kennedy Plaza.

"We were stunned, we were all stunned. We had heard about an accident in Providence that morning, but we obviously didn’t realize it was Michelle," Bill Fazioli of East Providence told ABC6 News.

“There’s definitely a hole in this gym,” said Tara Difonzo. “Definitely an empty feeling and it’s never going to be filled."

According to fitness friends, Cagnon was a dedicated member.  She worked out at least five times per week ever since the gym opened, about a year and a half ago.

"She motivated me. She was always like, come on Tara, one more! And she was the one always high-fiving everybody,” said Difonzo.

“We lost a family member. There isn’t going to be that familiar face in the gym,” said Healey.

The group workout Friday night was held in Cagnon’s honor. Monetary donations were also collected for her family.
