New Bedford Police charge mother with reckless endangerment of child

New Bedford, Mass.— New Bedford Police will charge 20-year-old Breanna McGrath of Acushnet Friday with Reckless Endangerment of a Child Under the Age of 18.

The charges come after a video was posted on Facebook showing McGrath’s car parked at the Gas Express located at Tarklin Hill Road and Belleville Avenue while she was inside the convenience store Thursday afternoon.

The video showed a young child left alone in McGrath’s car for a period of time while the vehicle was unlocked and the engine running.

Officials say the Massachusetts Department of Child and Family Services have been notified and is expected to conduct a separate investigation into the incident.
