PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Inside a Providence courtroom Tuesday, heartbreaking home video, showed Tiffany Sical and Bryan Rodriguez celebrating a birthday with their daughter, Jaylene.
A distant memory for the 6 year old, who is now without both parents.
Both Sical and Rodriguez were killed Easter morning 2015, when their car collided with Joel Norman’s, who was drunk behind the wheel and driving the wrong way down Route 6 in Providence
"Testing later performed at Rhode Island department of health, showing the defendants blood alcohol content at 5:34 am was .163," says Prosecutor Stephen Regine.
Norman was sentenced Tuesday, pleading guilty to three charges.
He faces a 20 year sentence, 12 of which will be served in the ACI, 3 years of home confinement and 8 years of probation until 2036.
But Sical’s family says nothing will make up for the loss of their only daughter and son in-law.
"My life will never be the same. I miss her everyday. I cry everyday, because I cannot accept that she is not with us anymore," says Tiffany Sical’s Father, Biron.
Norman also read a letter of his own which was addressed to the families.
"That terrible car accident that cut their significant lives short is my fault. And all of those days you have somehow tried to get through are my fault too," Norman says.
