NEWPORT, R.I. –   The Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance (SENEDIA) is hosting its third annual conference on defense innovation in Newport.

Monday through Wednesday policymakers and defense industry representatives are coming together to discuss trends and technologies being developed for military forces.

Innovation in undersea technology, cybersecurity, and warfighting are some of the topics being discussed.

Molly Magee, the SENEDIA Executive Director says it’s an opportunity to discuss the future of defense with an incredible group of speakers.

Tuesday’s agenda included talks by Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo and members of Rhode Island’s congressional delegation.

Tom Donilon, the chairman of the President’s Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity, talked about improving the nation’s cybersecurity posture.

There was also a discussion about the Defense Department’s modernization efforts, brought to attention by Frank Kendall, an undersecretary of defense.  He says resources are a concern.
