UPDATE: Police identify woman who died following house fire

WOONSOCKET, R.I (WLNE) – Police have identified the woman who died following a house fire on Monday.

Police identified the woman as 58-year-old June Wilkinson. 

Fire crews were sent to 30 Newbury ave around 7:00 am for a reported structure fire. 

Firefighters forced themselves into the home through windows and doors, and it took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control. 

According to the fire chief, a middle-aged woman was found unconscious inside the home and was sent to Landmark Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased. 

Officials said they found a dog in the rear of the building.  The dog was not alive.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
