PawSox Game at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Cancelled After Rain Out

PawSox news release…
(Moosic, PA) – Sunday afternoon’s scheduled series finale between the Pawtucket Red Sox and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders was cancelled due to heavy rains in the area. Because the teams do not meet again in 2016, the contest will not be made up.
This is Pawtucket’s second cancellation of the season. Rain also cancelled the final meeting of the year between the PawSox and Gwinnett Braves on June 1 in Georgia.
This marks Pawtucket’s first season with multiple cancelled games since the team suffered a pair of cancellations in 2011.
With the cancellation, the RailRiders earned a series win over the PawSox. Pawtucket won 9-3 on Thursday before dropping 7-4 and 4-0 contests over the last two nights.
Since the All-Star Break, the PawSox have won all five of their home series but lost all six of their road series. Fortunately, the club departed soggy northeast Pennsylvania for sunny northeast Rhode Island, where it begins a four-game homestand tomorrow.
All four games at McCoy Stadium begin at 7:05 p.m. Pawtucket faces the Syracuse Chiefs on Monday and Tuesday and the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Wednesday and Thursday. Tomorrow’s pitching matchup features a pair of hurlers who had their starts rained out today. PawSox lefthander Brian Johnson (5-5, 3.82) is scheduled to take the mound against Syracuse righthander Mat Latos (0-0, 1.80).
