PROVIDENCE R.I. –The Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is looking for assistance from the public to be on the look out for two species of invasive beetles.

After issuing a press release, the DEM is saying the Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB) and Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) can cause significant damage to trees.

The beetles have recently been discovered in Worcester, Massachusetts, with no confirmed sightings in Rhode Island yet.

Signs of infestation to look for include holes in the tree’s bark oozing sap and dead or dying tree limbs.

If spotted, the DEM asks you to call them at 401-222-2781.
