Wedding venues stepping up to help in wake of West Valley Inn closure

Less than a day after the West Valley Inn announced its closure, many brides are desperately trying to come up with a plan B for a day meant to be one of the best in their lives. Fortunately for them, several local venues are stepping in an effort to help in their time of need.

"It’s been insane. We were racking our brains. A lot of tear shed. But, a friend has mentioned that he was in the area of this Laurel Lane Country Club and suggested we call. He actually called before us and the lady said she had the date and she said have her call me immediately,” said Danielle Barbery.

Barbery’s wedding is just 8 weeks away. She calls the past 24 hours a whirlwind saying she can now finally breathe again knowing she has found a new venue, the Laurel Lane Country Club in West Kingstown.

The event coordinator there says she knew she had to help as soon as she got the call.

"It was actually devastating. I felt part of her I felt part of her family and I just can’t imagine what’s going through her mind,” said Dale Soloway. "I just felt that she needed help she needed to be reassured that her beautiful day was going to continue to be beautiful and that we would try to make it as best as we could for her."

Laurel Lane will accommodate Barbery at the same price she was going to pay at the West Valley Inn. The long-time West Warwick venue will shut down at the end of the month, giving no explanation as to why.

Laurel Lane says they’ve been contacted by several brides already.

Several other local vendors including Wrights Chicken Farm and Tomaselli’s at Rosario also stepping up to offer help.

Barbery says she’s choosing now to look at the positive of this last minute change.

"It’s a gorgeous place. What an upgrade a blessing in disguise,” said Babery.
