Providence man accused of using stun gun on an officer, K-9 officer, during chase

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)-A man from Providence is being accused of using a stun gun on a West Bridgewater police officer as well as a K-9 officer during a chase on Wednesday.

Police said that 30-year-old Jesse Marinaro was arrested after injuring three officers during a foot pursuit.

The West Bridgewater Police Department had received reports of a man who was falling asleep at the wheel at around 12:30 p.m.

Officers responded to the scene of Manley and West Streets where they attempted to pull the man, Marinaro, over. At this point he sped away into oncoming traffic and crashed into another vehicle.

Marinaro once again sped off, lost control of his vehicle, and crashed into a wooded area on the side of the road.

He then took off on foot towards a nearby condo complex, broke into a home that was occupied and was chased out by the owner.

An officer was able to bring Marinaro to the ground. The suspect pulled the officer’s taser from its holster and used it on the officer.

He continued to run from officers and hid in a nearby backyard. Investigators surrounded yard and attempted to convince Marinaro to comply, which he did not.

A K-9 officer was released to assist in his arrest. When the K-9 got close, Marinaro shot the taser.

Officers were able to subdue Marinaro shortly after.

He is facing the following charges:
