Fatal shooting in New Bedford, 1 killed and another hospitalized

NEW BEDFORD, Ma (WLNE): Paul Collazo-Ruiz, 17, from New Bedford has been identified as the victim killed after a shooting on Ashley Boulevard and Tallman St, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

Police responded to the scene around 7 p.m. on Saturday and found a 17-year-old and 20-year-old with gunshot wounds.

Collazo-Ruiz died at the scene, according to the D.A.’s office. The 20-year-old was transported to Rhode Island Hospital in serious condition.

Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to this office, along with New Bedford Police and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by the family of Collazo-Ruiz.
