Comedy Central is saying goodbye to the Nightly Show.
The comedy news show hosted by Larry Wilmore took the slot previously held by the Daily Show and Colbert Report just over a year and a half ago.
Comedy Central says the show never got traction in the ratings.
Wilmore has tried to present humor from a black perspective, even calling his coverage of the presidential race “The Unblackening.”
Wilmore says he is sad he will not stay on through the election season.
He said in a statement that he “hadn’t counted on ‘The Unblackening’ happening” to his time slot, too.
His last show airs Thursday.
