WARWICK, R.I. (AP) _ T.F. Green Airport in Warwick now has an area for service animals to relieve themselves inside the airport.
The airport announced that it has installed a “Service Animal Relief Area.” It’s located past security in the north concourse.
The area was installed to address a federal requirement.
Previously, passengers traveling with service animals passed through security and then had to take their dogs outside and rescreen. The airport says this process took time and caused difficulties for the owner and the animal.
The area includes a wash-down stall with a water hose and synthetic grass to cover the flushing system. Specialized floor drains were installed beneath the grass. There’s also a sink area with cleaning supplies.
There are also outdoor relief areas for service animals.
