Brides scrambling amid sudden closure of West Valley Inn

A well known banquet hall in Rhode Island is shutting its doors.
The West Valley Inn, a favorite spot for weddings and retirement parties, is closing after 30 plus years in business.
The news comes as a nightmare to several brides booked at the West Warwick banquet hall in the coming months.
"I’m actually a little crushed because your wedding is supposed to be the best day of your life,” said Danielle Barbery.
Barbery is set to be married in just 8 weeks. The mother of 3 breaking down in tears hours after learning that the venue is closing.
She says she spoke to them yesterday confirming the details for her reception and setting up a time to meet with the coordinator. Then, Wednesday morning the news broke on social media and she called to confirm for herself.
"They told me that it was real and that they would mail my deposit back. But at that point I’m thinking I don’t want my deposit back what am I going to do for my wedding. It is two months away and how am I going to find a venue that’s available,” said Barbery.
We went to the West Valley Inn Wednesday evening and were told that they have no comment on the subject.
A person trying to book an affair was told the establishment is closing at the end of the month. One bride and groom whose wedding is only two weeks away telling us they’ve been given back their deposit and told that it’s not guaranteed the venue will be open for their big day.
On the West Valley Inn’s Facebook page they write, “Take out and family style will be open for business until further notice.”
The property is up for sale for $1,500,000. The listing agent says they have several interested parties, but no sale has officially been made.
For Barbery, the reason why they are closing doesn’t really matter. She like many other is just left scrambling to salvage a day she’s dreamt about for years.
"I went over every detail. I tied the bows to every invitation. Couldn’t wait to get the invitations out. Today’s supposed to be the happiest day like I couldn’t wait for everyone to open it and I get my world just crushed in one phone call,” said Barbery.
