State officials are now calling on Attorney General Peter Kilmartin to make the 38 Studios documents public.

In a statement, Governor Raimondo says she is focused on recovering taxpayer money and making sure a deal like the 38 Studios deal never happens again.

She goes on to say that taxpayers deserve transparency and accountability and encourages Kilmartin to make all records public once the legal process has concluded.

Representative Patricia Serpa, who chairs the House Oversight Committee, has also called on Kilmartin to release the documents, saying that if that does happen, she would hold committee hearings on any new or additional information that hasn’t already been made public in previous committee hearings.

“Release of these documents would be a public service,” said Representative Serpa. “The people of Rhode Island have a right to know the complete story about the 38 Studios debacle.”

The requests come after announcements that no charges would be filed against any company or individual in relation to the state’s loss of $75 million.
