Hundreds of animals found as part of a massive animal abuse case in Westport will be moved to a different property starting Tuesday morning.

A Town Select Board meeting took place Monday night to okay the transfer.

Two weeks ago, hundreds of animals including horses, cows, cats, and dogs were found living in squalor and dozens had to be put down.

Police say their investigation is very much active and several people could face felony charges down the line.

“Starting tomorrow there are going to be teams of trucks and trailers moving the animals to a safer location. It’s a much cleaner healthier environment where they will be temporarily stored,” says Detective Sergeant Tony Cestodio of the Westport Police Department.

Officials say it will likely be weeks before charges are filed in this case.
