A big temperature change this weekend

The first day of March will bring about some big temperature changes and as we move through the weekend it’ll feel like we are going back into the heart of winter! The good news is that it will only last 2 days and then milder air returns by the middle of the upcoming week.

We’ll start Saturday morning off with a shower around and temperatures on the rise that’ll be reaching the low 50s during the afternoon under partial sunshine. There will be another shower developing in the mid afternoon as a strong cold front approaches. That strong cold front will cross the ocean state during the early evening hours bringing a rapid temperature drop of about 5° per hour between 3PM and 7PM as SW winds gusting 25-35MPH shift into the WNW! By daybreak Sunday morning we’ll start off with temperatures in the single digits and low teens. The wind will also be quite busy making it feel like its near zero. Despite bright sunshine during the day Sunday highs will only make it into the upper 20s while winds continue to gust 25-30mph making it feel like it is in the teens. Monday won’t be much better, although the wind gusts will begin to ease during the day as High pressure works its way toward the Maryland coast.

As the high moves offshore Tuesday our temperatures will return to normal, mid 40s and then continue heading into the low and mid 50s for Wednesday and Thursday. Unfortunately, that milder air will come with rain for Wednesday and early Thursday.
