A small plane crashes while landing in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, RI_ A small plane crashed upon landing at Newport State Airport early this morning.
The Middletown Fire Department arrived on scene around 11:40am to a plane that was damaged due to the malfunction of mechanical parts.
Officials say the plane sustained damage to the front landing gear, the right wing and propeller.
The pilot self-extricated and did not suffer any injuries.
The case remains under investigation at this time.
