AAA: Teen drivers at greatest risk of fatal crashes between Memorial Day and Labor Day

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — According to AAA Northeast, teenage drivers are at the greatest risk for fatal crashes between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

7,435 people died in teen driver-related summer crashes nationwide from 2013-2022.

28 teen drivers were involved in fatal crashes from 2013 to 2022 in Rhode Island.

In that same period, 30 people were killed in crashes involving teen drivers.

This can be attributed to risky driving behaviors such as texting, speeding and running red lights.
