Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez’s fiancee and mother will be allowed to attend his trial despite the fact they may be called as witnesses.
Additionally, at what might have been the final pre-trial conference before the trial, the judge approved the prosecutions request to allow the jury to visit the North Attleborough home of Hernandez.
The judge rejected a request by the prosecution to order a trophy case inside the home to be blocked from the juror’s view.
The former tight end is accused of the shooting death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd in June of 2013. The body was found just blocks from Hernandez’s home in an industrial park.
Hernandez’s fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins is also charged in the case for allegedly perjuring herself when testifying before a Grand Jury. Lloyd was dating Jenkins’s sister at the time of the murder.
The trial is schedule to start on Friday and last up to 10 weeks. The witness list includes Patriots coach Bill Belichick and team owner Robert Kraft.
