ABC 6 goes behind the scenes of To Kill A Mockingbird at Trinity Rep.

Angela Brazil and Stephen Thorne are immersed in their roles as Atticus Finch and Scout in the classic to Kill a Mockingbird.

The couple allowed our cameras to tag along for a day in their third week of rehearsal for the Trinity Rep play that will premiere next month.

"Today we are doing a final big run through of the show completely off book, everything is physically staged,” said Brazil.

Thorne and Brazil are married with two young kids. They’ve been resident actors at Trinity for 16 years.

"The uniqueness of a resident company is that we live here in this community and we are a part of this community. We don’t like most actors gig out from show to show,” said Brazil.

In our time with the duo we learned the life of a stage actor is not quite as glamorous as you might think.

"You rehearse and then you also have to go home and learn your lines. Plus you spend a lot of time thinking about the work,” said Thorne.

In addition to acting Thorne and Brazil teach and record audio books. They say all the hard work is worth it to do what they love for a living.

"This morning I had to record. So I recorded downstairs in our studio. Angela went to teach for about 3 hours this morning, now we are going to rehearse for six hours,’ said Thorne.

"The thing about doing a play is you have to think about it like you have to fall in love, you have to fall in love every single time and you have to truly fall in love or you’re faking your way through it,” said Brazil.

The couple tells ABC 6 News that it is the story telling that makes Trinity Rep as successful as it is.

Opening night for To Kill a Mockingbird is March 3rd.
