Providence, RI –  "Stunning, astonished, surprised, unbelievable…" was Attorney Ken Schreiber’s first reaction to hearing the ‘not guilty’ verdict Friday, in the Aaron Hernandez double murder trial.

"It truly is a once in a lifetime verdict,” said Schreiber, a lawyer at Schreiber & Schreiber Law.

The verdict came down after 37 hours of deliberation. Hernandez and his defense attorney, Jose Baez, repeatedly told the jury that Alexander Bradley, a star witness in the case, couldn’t be trusted in his testimony.

"They all had to believe that Alexander Bradly had no credibility whatsoever,” said Schreiber.  Bradley testified saying he saw Hernandez shoot Daniel De Abreu and Safiro Furtado at a stoplight in Boston’s south end.  “They didn’t believe a word out of that guy’s mouth.”

But perhaps the most shocking part of the verdict, Schreiber told ABC6 News, is how the jury was able to ignore the fact that Hernandez is already serving a life-sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.

"Here, the jury knew that he was a convicted murderer. They received specific instruction from the court to disregard that case which is almost impossible to do…  [And] they did it, and he was found not guilty,” added Schreiber. “You never see that."
