Accident on Washington Bridge shuts down highway; sends 3 to hospital

An accident on Interstate 195 eastbound at the Washington Bridge stopped traffic for for about hour today.
The accident happened at around 1:50 p.m. causing traffic to back up.
The highway was opened just before 3 p.m., according to a tweet from the RI Department of Transportation.
Multiple rescues were called to the scene.
According to the East Providence Fire Department 3 patients were transported to the hospital, one of those patients was in serious condition.
