Active Weekend Weather
As our stormy Saturday winds down, we will be pretty quiet overnight tonight. Patchy fog will likely develop late as winds go calm. Overnight lows are expected near 70. Clouds fill the day for Sunday with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms again entering the forecast for the afternoon and evening. It will be quite muggy and highs will be in the lower-80s. For the Patriots Home Opener Sunday afternoon, expect mainly cloudy skies for the 4:25 kickoff with a chance of showers. Some showers could be heavy and there is a chance of thunderstorms as well. It’s a rinse and repeat forecast for Monday with the early fog, high humidity, mainly cloudy skies and the chance of showers and thunderstorms. We dry out briefly Tuesday before bringing showers back to the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.
Regarding the distant Hurricane Lee, it is expected to move slowly to the north of the Caribbean islands through the weekend. It is currently a major category 3 storm, but is forecast to strengthen over the next few days back to a category 4 storm. As for a landfall, it is still too soon to call as Lee is expected to slow down as it moves into the southwestern Atlantic waters early this week. What we know and can prepare for here is the deterioration of beach conditions. Surf will become progressively dangerous over the next week along the eastern seaboard, including dangerous rip currents and possible beach erosion.
