PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Thursday is Alzheimer’s Awareness Day in Rhode Island.

To help raise awareness for the disease and the fight against it, the Alzheimer’s Association will be in the state house to meet with lawmakers.

Thursday afternoon, the association will host talks from people living with dementia and dementia patient caregivers.

The association will meet with state leaders from across Rhode Island to discuss policies to help the 24,000 residents living with Alzheimer’s.

That event starts at 3 p.m. in the governor’s room at the state house.

For residents, the association is also asking that you wear purple, to help raise awareness for the fight against Alzheimer’s.
