Narragansett- The ferry added eight extra round-trip rides Wednesday, to ensure everyone who stuck on the Island or going to the island makes it to their destination. With ferry cancellations since Sunday, the boat arriving at 9 am this morning was packed. People lined the stair wells eager to get off the boat and on to the main land. Many planning to come back on Monday to make it for work on Tuesday, had to change their plans. The canceled ferry even putting some careers in jeopardy
"I got fired! Yeah, they told me if I didn’t make it in, I told them the situation. But they said, ‘If you don’t get here, you have to be here, there’s a big meeting,’ and I said, ‘I’ll try to be there. Somehow, I’ll try to get off the island.’ I didn’t get off the island," says one Connecticut rider.
"I had to contact my travel at work and they had to re-book my flight. I was supposed to leave out of Providence this morning, and now I’m hoping to get a cab back up to Providence right now to make a noon flight. But yeah, so everybody at work is probably mad at me but I’m not at a conference with the rest of our sales team," adds a rider from New York.
The last boat will leave Point Judith and block island Wednesday night at 7 pm. We are told the schedule will be back to normal tomorrow.
