Hundreds of delays and cancellations continue at airports across the country
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE)- Since Christmas Eve, more than 1,500 flights have been canceled across the country.
Leaving thousands of passengers stuck at airports across the U.S.
ABC6 went to T.F. Green International Airport Monday where we spoke with a woman arriving from Florida.
She said she spent many hours waiting for her flight inside the airport in Orland.
“We’ve been traveling through Orlando for years and years and it’s the most crowded we’ve ever seen it. Lines were wrapped all over the place. Got there early and still missed our flight,” Brooke Williams said.
Multiple delays and a cancellation caused havoc for a Warwick couple coming home from California.
“We had a total of four delays, so we had to end up in Charlotte and spend the night there,” Erinolde Debruno said.
The couple returned home a day later than originally planned.
“It’s almost noon time and we just hot home. We were supposed to be home last night. I almost lost it last night at the airport. It’s very stressful.”
Many airlines blame the issues on the Omicron variant causing crew members to call out sick.
Officials at T.F. Green said the majority of the airports departures have left on time.
As of 4 p.m. Monday, there have only been two cancellations at T.F. Green in the past 24 hours.
