Alleged drunk driver crashes into utility pole in North Smithfield

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — The North Smithfield Police Department said that a Woonsocket woman allegedly driving under the influence crashed into a utility pole Thursday evening.
The department said 45-year-old Sara Lacroix was charged with driving under the influence,
Police responded to calls of a car crash into a utility pole around 7:30 p.m., where the pole and power lines were in the street.
Officers helped Lacroix out of the car, where they allege they observed vomit by the side of the vehicle, the odor of alcohol from her breath, and that she was unsteady on her feet.
Police said that Lacroix admitted to drinking alcohol before driving.
Lacroix is scheduled to be in court on Jan. 9, 2024.
