Allegedly intoxicated man arrested in Norwich apartment complex shots fired incident
NORWICH, Conn. (WLNE) — Norwich police announced an arrest and charges overnight from a shots fired incident at an apartment complex.
The suspect, Brian Burgess, is now in custody.
Officers were called to the apartment complex around 7 p.m. Monday night for multiple reports of active shooting in and around the complex.
When they arrived, police said they heard six shots go off nearby and placed the complex and nearby homes into a shelter-in-place.
Eventually, police were able to locate Brian Burgess and attempted to negotiate with him from the porch of his apartment.
According to police, Burgess then jumped from his porch and was later taken into custody with no further issues.
Police said no one was injured during the incident.
Burgess is being held on $150,000 surety and is facing charges of disorderly conduct, unlawful discharge of a weapon, reckless endangerment and carrying a firearm while intoxicated.
He’s expected to be arraigned in Norwich Superior Court later today.
