FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A massive job fair is taking place at Amazon warehouses across the country Wednesday morning.

Amazon will be hiring workers on the spot Wednesday at fulfillment centers across the United States including in Fall River.

The company expects to hire approximately 50,000 workers nationwide in both full-time and part-time positions. Many of those jobs will be packing and sorting at warehouse facilities.

This is part of an initiative by the online retail giant to hire 100,000 workers across the US through the end of next year.

Wednesday’s event runs from 8 a.m. until noon. Participants will tour the facility and be interviewed for potential jobs.

Positions will also include full health coverage as well as match and tuition assistance through Amazon’s career choice program.

“Yeah, we’re expecting to see a lot of different types of candidates, a lot of different people interested with different interests. What’s important to us is that anyone who does come here, we’re hopeful that they have a great deal on enthusiasm and a commitment to customer service. But you know what, they may not have technically the necessary skills for the job on the spot, but that’s not an issue for us. We provide training within our fulfillment centers,” said Amazon’s spokesperson, Cedric Ross.

Candidates are asked not to wear heels and loose jewelry. However, all applicants should wear closed toe shoes and tie up shoulder length hair.

Those who cannot attend can also apply online. Visit amazon.com/jobsday.
