Amo, Magaziner comment on ‘no’ votes on bill to reopen government

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island representatives in Washington, D.C. are speaking about their “no” votes on the continuing resolution the reopen to federal government Wednesday.

Congressman Gabe Amo voted against the measure, and released a statement that said:

This is not a deal Rhode Islanders can afford. I’m going to keep….calling out the cruelty, fighting to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits, and addressing Trump’s affordability crisis….because we cannot back down in the face of Americans being left sicker and poorer.

Amo’s fellow RI rep Congressman Seth Magaziner also elaborated on his down vote on the legislation, saying in part:

We are in a health care affordability crisis, and I will continue to fight to restore ACA funding to lower health care costs for Americans.

The measure to reopen the government was signed by President Donald Trump, officially reopening Capitol Hill for business.
