An end in sight to gloomy skies and cool temps
What a fall-like start to the day it was! We awoke to temperatures in the 50s across much of the area.
Cloudy skies and east winds didn’t allow things to warm up much throughout the day, reaching 70 at best in a few spots.
Showers have developed this evening, though almost all rain is on the light side. Cool and clammy conditions persist into tonight, with a few showers and drizzle as well.
Things will be warmer on Friday as afternoon highs reach 80 away from the shore. Winds will shift out of the south and begin to pick up as the day progresses.
Debby will remain well west of the area, respectively keeping the flood threat away as well. However, remaining on the right side of the storm means a persistent south flow of 15-30 mph.
This will create coastal headaches for mariners and beachgoers alike as the surf begins to pickup Friday afternoon.
A moderate risk of rip currents and waves 3-6 feet Friday will upgrade to a high risk and 6-10 feet on Saturday! Keep the boats docked and use extreme caution near the water during this time.
A *Gale Watch* is in effect for the outer waters, with a *Small Craft Advisory* for the Narragansett.
Showers and a few thunderstorms will roll through Friday night into Saturday morning, but again the overall flood threat is on the lower side.
The sun will break out Saturday afternoon and kick off a nice stretch of weather! Humidity will fall, and Sunday through midweek look to be bright and nice with highs around 80.
