TAUNTON, M.A. (WLNE) — All classes are cancelled at both Taunton High School and Parker Middle School on Tuesday.

An anonymous and threatening note was found by a Taunton High School employee on Monday, police said.

Although it is unclear what the threat was, the threat prompted further investigation and the cancellation of classes on Tuesday.

“The only two schools that are cancelled are Taunton High School (THS) and Parker Middle School. All other schools in the Taunton Public School district will have a regularly scheduled school day tomorrow,” said Superintendent of Schools Julie Hackett.

“All Taunton High School and Parker Middle School students are required to make up the school day.”

Authorities made note that normally students at Taunton High School would attend classes for half-days during finals in June.

With this threat under investigation, students will now have to attend full days to make up for the cancellation on the 21st and 22nd of June, 2018.

“We will send more information to Parker Middle School students and staff on how we plan to make up the instructional time they will be losing tomorrow,” Hackett said.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding. It is never easy to make the decision to cancel school. We know it is an inconvenience for our students, parents, caregivers, and staff. Please know that the safety and security of our school community remains our top priority.”

Anyone with questions can call Superintendent Hackett at: 508.821.1201 or Headmaster Mattos at: 508-821-1101.

No further information is available at this time.
