Another wet start to the work week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The remnants of Ophelia continue to plague Southern New England today with periods of rain, some of which will become heavy at times into the afternoon. Winds will also be rather gusty at times times from the northeast up to 25-30 mph.

This post tropical low will be drifting south and east away from the long Island coast over the next 24 hours and that will bring an end to the wet weather overnight. A stray shower along the south coast can linger into early Tuesday morning, followed by some breaks of afternoon sunshine through a good deal of clouds.

High pressure will become anchored over Southeastern Canada, providing several days of fine autumn weather for the midweek stretch and perhaps right into the weekend.

Today: breezy with periods of rain, some heavy. Highs near 60. Wind NE 10-20 mph gusting to 30.
